Oriental woody · 90ml
Intense Oud is an oriental fragrance built on agarwood, leather and frankincense, lifted by an unexpected opening of pear, raspberry and saffron. Created by Aurélien Guichard and launched in 2016, it is one of the few designer ouds that leans genuinely smoky rather than sweet, and it is known for exceptional projection and longevity.
The opening is the surprise. Frankincense arrives first with a dry, resinous smokiness, but it is cut with pear and raspberry — a fruity brightness that keeps the first few minutes from feeling austere. Saffron sits underneath, adding a warm bittersweet spice.
The heart softens considerably. Damask rose and orange blossom bring a floral roundness that many people do not expect from a fragrance with this name, held together by musk. This is the phase that makes it wearable rather than punishing.
The base is where the name earns itself: agarwood wrapped in leather, patchouli and ambergris. Dry, smoky and resinous, with a leather note that becomes more prominent over the first few hours and stays until the end.
The composition moves from a bright, resinous opening through a floral heart into a dark leather and agarwood base.

Yes. This is one of the genuinely smoky ouds in the designer category. The smokiness comes from frankincense and olibanum in the opening, reinforced by leather in the base, rather than from a burnt or charred wood accord.
If you have tried other oud fragrances and found them warm but not smoky, this is the one that delivers that quality. It reads as dry incense smoke rather than campfire.
Performance is a standout feature. Expect eight to ten hours on skin, with strong projection for the first three to four hours before it settles into a persistent, dry trail.
Apply sparingly and spread the sprays across separate points rather than concentrating them in one spot — the resins amplify considerably when layered on top of each other.
This is an evening and cooler-weather fragrance. Australian autumn and winter suit it best, and it performs well at formal occasions, dinners, weddings and events where a bold signature is appropriate.
It is not an office fragrance in most settings, and it will feel heavy in Australian summer heat. If you wear it during warmer months, one spray is the limit.
Gucci lists it as unisex, and the rose and orange blossom heart genuinely softens it, though the leather and incense make it read as traditionally masculine to most people.
It suits someone who already enjoys smoky, resinous or leather fragrances and wants an oud with real character. If you are new to oud and prefer something gentle, this is not the place to start — the opening is assertive.
Two sprays is enough for most occasions, applied to separate pulse points rather than one concentrated area. The base of the neck and the wrists work well.
Do not rub your wrists together after spraying, as this crushes the fruity opening and pushes the fragrance straight into its smoky phase. Store away from direct sunlight and heat.
